About Robin Crusoe:
Robin Crusoe is a novel that was written by Daniel Defoe. It was first published on 25th April, 1719. The book is presented as an autobiography of the title character whose birth name is Robinson Kreutznaer. He is the one who spends 28 years on a remote tropical desert island near Trinidad, encountering cannibals, captives and mutineers, before ultimately being rescued. The story is started since been thought to be based on the life of Alexander Selkirk, a Scottish castaway who lived for four years on a pacific island called Mas a Tierra which was renamed Robinson Crusoe Island in 1966. Despite its narrative simple style, Robinson was well received in the literary world and is often credited as marking the beginning of realistic fiction as a literary genre. Before the end of 1719, the book had already run through four editions, and it has gone on to become one of the most widely published books in history, spawning numerous imitations in film, television and radio that its name was used to define a genre, Robinsonade.
The story has been perceived to be based on the life of Alexander Selkrik, a Scottish castaway who lived for four years on the pacific island. This philosophical novel also set on a desert island and translated into Latin and English a number of times in the half century preceding Defoe’s novel. In his 2003 book In Search of Robinson Crusoe contends that the account of Henry Pitman in a short book chronicling his escape from a Caribbean Penal colony and desert island misadventures is the inspiration for the story. The book was published on 25th April, 1719. This book comes with four editions by the end of 19th century; no book in the history had more editions than Robinson Crusoe with more than 700 such alternative versions, including children versions that come up with pictures and no text.

Daniel Defoe was born on 1660 and died on 24th April, 1731. He was an English trader, writer, journalist, pamphleteer and spy. He is most famous for his novel Robinson Crusoe, only the Bible has been printed in more languages. Defoe is noted for being one of the earliest proponents of the novel, as he helped to popularize the form in Britain with others such as Aphra Behn and Samuel Richardson and is among the founders of the English novel. He was also a prolific and versatile writer, producing more than three hundred works books, pamphlets and journals on diverse topics that include Politics, crime, religion, marriage, psychology and the supernatural. He was also a pioneer of economic journalism.
