To All the boys I’ve loved before is a 2014 young adult romance novel written by American author Jenny Han, first published by Simon and Schuster and released on 5th April, 2014. Han was inspired to write the book based on her own habit of writing love letters to boys she had crushes on as a teenager. The novel was followed by two sequels P.S. I Still Love you that was released on May 26, 2015 and always and forever released on May 2, 2017. Lara Jean the main character of the book is a sixteen year old half Korean and half Caucasian girl. She is very close to her older sister and also to the younger sister. Lara jean keeps love letters to all the boys she has ever loved in a teal hatbox given to her by her late mother. Just before Margot leaves for college in Scotland, she breaks up with her boyfriend who is also their next door neighbor. The novel spent 40 weeks on The New York Times Best seller list in the young adult fiction section. It has been published in 30 languages.

About Jenny Han:

Jenny Han is an American author of young adult fiction. She wrote the summer I Turned Pretty trilogy and the To All the Boys I’ve Loved before Series. Han was born and raised in Richmond, Virgnia. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and later earned her Master of fine Arts in creative writing at The New School, from which she graduated in 2006. Han wrote her first book, the children novel “shug” while she was still in the college. Shug is about Annemarrie Wilcox, a tweleve year old trying to navigate the perils of junior high school. In 2014, she released young adult romance novel To All boys I’ve loved before, about Lara Jean, a high school student whose life turns upside down when the letters she wrote to her five past crushes are sent out without her knowledge. The novel was optioned for a screen adaptation in the weeks following its debut.

Uglies is a 2005 science fiction based novel that was written by Scott Westerfeld. It is set in a future post scarcity dystopian world in which everyone is turned pretty by extreme surgery upon reaching at the age of 16. The novel tells the story of teenager Tally Youngblood who rebels against the society about her newfound friend’s shay and David show her the downsides to becoming a “pretty”. This novel is written for young adults, uglies deals with the themes of change, both emotional and physical. The novel is based on a story that everyone on their sixteenth birthday receives the “pretty” operation. In this operation ugly girls and boys can turn into pretty under special circumstances. There are two operations available that are discussed in the novel one to transform pretties into middle-pretties and another to transform middle pretties into crumblies. Main character that was discussed frequently in the novel is Tally who is also sixteen years old and as the government promises every sixteen year old girl and boy to have their operation, she can also now able to avail this opportunity. Tally’s best friend also had that same operation and motivated by the results of the operation. Uglies receive positive feedback from the readers. The novel has creative slang, unique technical gadgets and also it defines the characteristics of personhood. Some people criticized about the main character Tally that was discussed in the novel that Tally herself is a bit too vague as a character. The main theme of this novel is to discussed over the use of plastic surgery to improves one look. The writer of the novel also said that many girls don’t prefer to have plastic surgeries because they are scared of their results, but Uglies gave them a positive way to think about improving their look by taking support from plastic surgery. Uglies was first published in 2006 and re-released in 2011 with a new cover. Uglies is the first part of a trilogy while pretties and specials and another book Extras are the sequel to it.

Full name Scott David Westerfeld was born on 5th May, 1963. He is an American writer of young adult fiction novels. He is well known for his novel “uglies” and the Levianthan series. Westerfeld is well known for the uglies series plus its spin-off graphic novel series Shay’s story. He also wrote Afterworlds as well as The Risen Empire and The Killing of Worlds. His book Evolutions darling was a New York Times notable book (2000) and it also won a special Citation for the 2000 philip k. Dick Award. The book “So yesterday” won a Victorian Premier’s Award. The Secret Hour was an Aurealis Award, Peeps and Uglies were both named as best books for young adults in 2006 by American Library Association. Several of his novels have been optioned for films. The truth about forever is Sarah Dessen’s sixth novel. It was published in hardcover on 11 May, 2004 and in paperback on April 6, 2006. In 2006 the audiobook adaptation of The Truth about Forever was one of the young adult library services associations selected picks for that year. Macy is still recovering from the sudden loss of her father. Since he died during one of their habitual morning runs, Macy gives up running and keep all her feelings by herself and she won’t able to share her sorrows with anyone else. The behavior of Macy results in giving uncomforted to her mother. Her boyfriend, Jason is currently away at Brain camp, when Macy attempts to communicate with him about her unhappiness with her coworkers at the library. At the end of her emails she confesses that she love Jason and in the reply her boyfriend replied to have a break until he returns in August. Upset and frustrated Macy joins a new job which she loves and she has a good interaction with her new coworkers. The main theme that is being discussed in the whole book was discussing feelings, love, and stress. The Truth about Forever received positive reviews. The Otago Daily Times stated that although not all of the characters in this novel developed as main characters they enjoyed the book overall because it comes with a strong story line. Kirkus Reviews criticized the plot of the story as being too conventional but also wrote that the wish team is lovable, the romance clicks, and reader won’t get irritated while reading the book.

Sarah Dessen was born on 6 June, 1970. She is an American writer who lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Sarah Dessen was born in Evanston. Dessen’s Along for the Ride made the New York Best Sellers List. Following the publication of Dreamland, Dessen taught at the University of North Carolina and wrote what would later become This Lullaby. Some of her novels have been among the ALA’s best fiction for young adults. In 2017 Dessen was awarded the Margaret A.
