Naseem Hijazi is a well-known Urdu novel writer. Most of his novels are based on the Islamic history where he has shown the rise and fall of Islamic history. He was born before the independence of Pakistan and spends most of his life in Pakistan and died in March 1996. Some of his novels depict the rise of Islam to political, economic and educational power while some are based on the rise and fall of Islam in Spain. Moazzam Ali is one of his historical novel based on the British conquest of India.
The book starts before the war of Plessey. The main character, Moazzam Ali joined Siraj-ud-Duala with the fight against the British army. The story revolves around the main character who keeps on going from one place to another in India in search of freedom and his lost glory. He then fights in the third battle of Panipat and settles down in Srirangapattana, which was ruled over by the leading personality of Haider Ali, the father of Tipu Sultan. The novel goes on the journey of his life and ends almost with his death.
