About The Lost Hero:

The Lost Hero is a 2010 fantasy adventure novel that was written by Rick Riordan and it was based on Greek and Roman mythology. It is the first book in The Heroes of Olympians series, the second series was about demigod and Camp half blood. It was preceded by the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series which focused solely on Greek mythology. The book received generally positive reviews and won the Barnes and Noble best book of 2010 and landed on five bestseller lists, not including charts in the United Kingdom. The novel was first released in the United States on October 12, 2010. The hardcover had a 2.5 million copy first printing, and audio book and e-book formats were also released. Before the Lost Heroes was released, Disney Hyperion released several sneak peeks in an effort to build up publicity for the books release. The Lost hero received positive reviews from critics and fans. The novel received mixed review from Vicky Smith of Kirkus Reviews who wrote that Greek vs Roman tension tantalizes and that incidental details that bring the gods into the story often shine. This new series is in the same genre as the Percy Jackson group, has fresh ideas, more mystery and magic and keeps the reader engrossed from start to finish. The Lost hero also won the junior young Reader’s choice award in 2013.

About Rick Riordan:

Richard Russell Riordan Jr. better known as Rick Riordan is an American author. He is known for writing the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, about a 12 year old boy who discovers he is a son of Poseidon. His books have been translated into 42 languages and sold more than 30 million copies in the US. Riordan’s first full length novel was Big Red Tequila, which became the first book in the Tres Navarre series. He received several awards such as 1998 Shamus award, 1999 Edgar award, 2008 Mark Twain Award, 2009 Mark Twain Award, 2009 Rebecca Caudill Award, 2010 School library journals book best book for The Red Pyramid, 2011 Children’s choice book awards, 2017 Stonewall Book award for Children’s literature. Riordan’s first full length novel was Big Red Tequila, which became the first book in the Tres Navarre series. His big breakthrough was The lightning thief 2005, that was the first novel in the five volume Percy Jackson series. His most recent publications are two books in the Magnus Chase and the Gods Asgard series, based on Norse mythology, The Hidden Oracle was released in May 2016.

The Children of Hurin is an epic fantasy novel written by J.R.R. Tolkien. He wrote the original version of the story in the late 1910s revised it several times later, but did not complete it before his death in 1973. His son Christopher Tolkein edited the manuscripts to form a consistent narrative and published it in 2007 as an independent work. The book contains 33 illustrations by Alaan Lee, eight of which are full page and in color. The history and descent of the main characters are described in the book as the main paragraphs in the book and the backstory of the book is elaborated upon in The Slimarillion. It begins five hundred years before the action of the book, when Morgoth, a Vala and the prime evil power, escapes from the blessed realm of Valinor to the north-west of Middle-earth. The children of Hurin were published on 17 April, 2007 by HarperCollins in the United Kingdom and Canada, and by Houghton Mifflin in the United States. The story of this novel is mainly based on the legend of Kullervo, a character from the finish folklore poems known as Kalevala. The themes explored in the story include evil, free will and predestination. The book reflects also an heroism and courage. It has been suggested that Turin’s character is not only shaped by Morgoth’s curse but that he himself also partly responsible for his actions.

About J.R.R. Tolkien:

John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born on 3rd January, 1892 and died on 2nd September, 1973. He was an English writer, poet, philologist and university professor who is best known as the author of the classic high fantasy works The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion. He served as the Rawlinson and Bosworth Professor of Anglo-Saxon and the fellow of Pembroke college, Oxford from 1925-1945. He was at one time a very close friend of C.S. Lewis they were both the members of the informal literary discussion group known as the Inklings. Tolkien was first appointed as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II on 28th March, 1972. After the death of Tolkien death, his son Christopher published a series of works based on his father’s extensive notes and unpublished manuscripts including The Silmarillion.

Robin Hobb is the pen name of Margaret Astrid Lindholm Ogden and she was born on March 5, 1952. She is an American writer. She is best known for the books set in the Realm of the Elderlings, which started in 1995 with the publication of Assassin’s Apprentice that was the first book in the Farseer trilogy. She sold her first short story to a children magazine, leading to an early career writing for children. Her short fiction for children appeared in magazines such as Humpty Dumpty, Jack and jill and Highlights for children. In 1970 she also began to write short fantasy. Until 1995, she continued to publish exclusively under the name Megan Lindholm. Her first novel was Harpy’s Fligh, was published by Ace in 1983. She was awarded an Alaska State Council of the Arts prize of her short story. Her books have been praised by Orson Scott Card, who has stated that she arguably set the standard for the modern serious fantasy novel. In 2014, she was a guest of honor at the 72nd world science fiction convention in London.

Steven Erikson was born on 7th October 1959. He is the pseudonym of Steve Rune Lundin, a Canadian novelist, who was trained and educated as both an archaeologist and anthropologist. His best-known work is the ten-volume fantasy series Malazan book of the fallen which by 2012 had sold over 1,000,000 copies worldwide. He says that he enjoys playing with and overturning the conventions of fantasy, presenting characters that violate the stereotypes associated with their roles. She worked on several television shows for Nickelodeon including Clarissa Explains it all, the mystery files of Shelby woo, little bear and Oswald. She was also the head writer for Scholastic entertainment’s Clifford’s puppy days. She also received a writer’s guild of America nomination in animation for co-writing the critically acclaimed Christmas special Santa and Baby. She received no of awards for her work. She received California Young Reader Medal in 2011, publishers weekly’s best books of the year, An American Library Association Top 10 best books for young adult selection, An ALA Notable children’s book, 2008 CYBIL Award fantasy and science fiction and many more.
