Naseem Hijazi is a well-known Urdu novel writer. Most of his novels are based on the Islamic history where he has shown the rise and fall of Islamic history. He was born before the independence of Pakistan and spends most of his life in Pakistan and died in March 1996. Some of his novels depict the rise of Islam to political, economic and educational power while some are based on the rise and fall of Islam in Spain. Khaak Aur Khoon is one of his historical novel based on the conquest of Genghis Khan.
The novel relies on the Central Asian conquest of Genghis Khan and the destruction he has created in the Khwarizm Sultanate. Genghis Khan was the founder and emperor of Mongolians which was the largest empire in history after his death. He is regarded as the founding father of Mongolia. The long novel shows how the Mongols conquest the Central Asia so brutally. It focuses on the undying power of Jalal-ud-Din Khwarizm Shah, who came to power after the death of his father against Mongols and defeated them. The novel depicts the unworthy condition of Abbasid Caliphate who was the third Islamic caliphate of Baghdad. This Islamic history based story is so well written that it keep the readers bound with the ups and downs in the past.
